New clients can choose to get NannyPay’s cloud version that’s accessible through online web browsers, or its desktop version, NannyPay2, which you can install directly on Windows and Mac computers.

If you sign up for a NannyPay subscription online, you have to provide your basic information and billing details, such as name, company name, and address. Note that the provider only accepts payments via credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover).
Regardless of the plan selected, the NannyPay software is licensed for 365 days. The plan will automatically renew at the end of the said period, and your credit card on file will be billed the renewal rate. You can choose not to automatically renew by selecting the “No” option beside the “Auto Renew?” data field on NannyPay’s online order page.
If you select “Yes” but change your mind, you can cancel your plan by sending NannyPay an email. However, those who purchased the desktop version won’t get a refund, but users who signed up for the cloud version are entitled to it—provided the cancellation is made within 14 days of your order. Note that you will no longer get a refund if you exceed the said period.
NannyPay Payroll Features
What’s great about NannyPay is that it automatically calculates the salary payments, taxes, and deductions of any household staff. You simply have to input the employee’s actual hours worked (both regular and overtime hours) for a pay period, add the check number (if you’re paying via check), and then click the “Calculate and Print” button. NannyPay will compute all earnings and deductions for you. However, you can only process payments one employee at a time.
With NannyPay, you can pay employees via direct deposits, checks you print yourself, and payment gateways like PayPal, Venmo, and Zelle. If you prefer check payments, note that NannyPay is compatible with Nelco payroll checks L81064P.
NannyPay can handle Social Security, Medicare, and federal and state income tax computations. While it doesn’t provide access to employee benefits plans, it lets you add the applicable benefits deductions to its system if you decide to provide health insurance and 401(k) plans to your household employees. NannyPay also supports reimbursement payouts and even tracks taxable and non-taxable payments or deductions.
Monitoring state-related taxes is easy with NannyPay given its income tax withholding tables for all states. Its system even has built-in withholding rates for some of the larger cities. If there are changes to the tax rates, a new tax table is automatically added to the system. However, this is only for those on the Cloud – Online plan. If you get NannyPay2, the provider will send you the updated tax table so you can install it on your computer.
While the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) doesn’t require household employers to withhold the federal income taxes of household employees, your workers can ask you to deduct it from their salaries. Most states also follow the same income tax withholding rule. If you agree, your staff should provide you with a completed Form W-4. This form will give you the information you need to determine how much income tax to withhold.

However, NannyPay doesn’t generate any state tax forms. The reports aren’t customizable, and the system only lets you choose date ranges outside of its pre-configured date options.
NannyPay HR Features
NannyPay has very limited HR functionalities. It doesn’t monitor the paid time off (PTO) or vacation leaves of household workers as other nanny payroll service providers do. Employee self-service tools are also unavailable, which would have allowed your staff to view their payslips and access W-2 forms online. With NannyPay, you’ll have to manually print the documents and hand these to your employees.
What it does offer is a basic database for storing your employee information, such as hire date, address, contact details, and tax filing status. You can also use it to keep track of your workers’ salary rates. If you have resigned or terminated employees, NannyPay has an easy way of deactivating their profiles—you simply remove the check mark beside the “Uncheck to Deactivate Employee” box located in the Personal tab.

Setting up your employer account is easy with NannyPay—provided you have all the required information, like your federal ID number. Its setup wizard is designed to help you through the entire process, from creating your employer profile to adding your workers’ information directly into the system. It also doesn’t take a lot of time, especially if you only have one or two employee profiles to create and have all of your workers’ details on-hand (such as full name, address, and Social Security number).
For those who prefer to handle nanny payroll themselves, NannyPay offers a secure DIY solution for computing nanny payments, tracking payroll tax records, and printing paychecks. You also don’t have to worry about tracking payroll tax rates—NannyPay is equipped with the income tax tables of all states. Selecting the state will load the applicable tax rates, but you can also input these manually. NannyPay advises its clients to check the tax requirements of their state, especially for unemployment and disability, as this varies depending on your location.
In case you need help navigating through its features, NannyPay offers unlimited email support. It also has an in-app help section if you want to report a technical issue or access its online how-to guides (but there aren’t a lot of help materials available). For new household employers, the provider has NannyPay University, which contains a self-paced learning program to help you understand everything about nanny payroll and employing household staff.
However, while its interface is generally easy to learn and use, the platform looks a bit dated, and the customization options are limited. NannyPay also doesn’t provide access to payroll or HR professionals you can call if you need expert advice in handling employee or pay-related issues. And, unless you have an accountant to handle taxes, you will have to pay and file payroll taxes yourself.

There are very few up-to-date NannyPay reviews online. At the time of publication, there are only four NannyPay reviews onCapterra, with the software earning an overall score of 3.8 out of 5 stars.
Most of the users who left NannyPay reviews said that affordability is its standout feature.
